The Role

As the Business Analyst (BA), you will be responsible for the planning, prioritization and utilization of technology and process management which support critical business projects and product rollouts that directly impact the profit, growth and service objectives for Group Protection (GP).  You will contribute to the achievement of the company's vision by enabling our business partners to successfully improve quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of their processes by delivering the required results necessary.  Youwill gather requirements for and manage the projects impacting GP. 

Responsibilities

Strategy

Responsible for enterprise analysis, development of business case and helping the business create alternatives, reviewing options, developing RFPs, determining gaps, and presenting estimates in order to make appropriate decisions.
Project Management

Assists the business with any cost benefit analysis to determine the viability of the system request. Helps sponsors develop the project charter. Compiles, organizes and analyzes statistical data. Manages changes throughout the project life-cycle.

Responsible for the discovery, documentation and communication of business requirements, as-is and to-be business process flows, stakeholders, business rules and critical success criteria of the project to meet customer needs. Determines system change specifications and integration points with third parties/TPA.

Plans and facilitates requirement-gathering sessions in order to define and develop business and system requirements. Evaluates the problem communicated by the business units and explores solutions and alternatives.

Acts as a project manager on smaller projects.
 Technical

Performs technical tasks including running simple database queries and updates, modifying database flags or changing system data, creating ad hoc reports and setting up workbaskets.

Creates test plans, test cases and scripts consistent with system testing needs and department standards. Manages the user acceptance testing process. Conducts functional testing and user acceptance testing as needed exposing and documenting any missed requirements and defects.

Supports the monthly weekend of system promotions as scheduled throughout the year. May occasionally be required to be on call to work with IT developers on emergency production issues or critical development efforts.

Trains business areas and corporate trainers on system changes and enhancements. Provides input to BTM training and troubleshooting documentation by providing subject matter expertise.

Helps to troubleshoot and resolve systems issues, including acting as a point of contact, conducting research and providing feedback within the service level time frames.
Requirements
Education

Undergraduate degree or 4+ years of comparable work experience
Experience

3-5 years of experience in group insurance, business analysis, QA/testing, requirements gathering, facilitation, process and data modeling that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position

Education experience and/or proficiency in Business Analysis (IIBA/BABOK), project management, SQL, scripting, Access, Oracle and BI  

A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations

Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions

Drives performance targets to completion
