Sahling Kenworth, located in Kearney, NE is accepting applications for our Service Foreman - Lead Diesel Technician/Mechanic position on first shift. Responsibilities include coordinating the shop work flow and supervising assigned service technicians. This is a great opportunity to join a progressive work environment and a growing dealer group.Responsibilities:Insure that all service phone calls are handled professionally and expedientlyCoordinates service shop work flow by effective coordination with Service Leadman and assignment of jobs to techniciansSupervises all assigned service techniciansCoordinates department activities between service department, parts department and service customerFacilitates effective communication between internal and external customers, vendors and business contactsPrimary Duties:Assesses incoming service department jobs, makes initial repair diagnosis and creates customer repair orders following company procedures to include obtaining customer signature on formUpdates and closes computerized customer repair orders while ensuring all service department activities were accounted for and properly documented on the orderManages available billing hours by planning and effectively delegating work load to qualified and available service techniciansProvides leadership and demonstrate sound industry knowledge while serving as a technical resource for service technician staffShows a heightened commitment to the success of the service department by demonstrating and assuring high standards for quality, safety and customer concernsEvaluates all work in progress to ensure repairs are proceeding in a timely fashion and completed with a high degree of accuracyInforms service writer and various other service personnel of delays in work performance, necessary repair order extensions and additional service requirementsEstablishes and ensures adherence to maintenance schedule for service facility and shop equipmentCommunicates with customers regarding the scheduling of appointment, status of their repairs, parts availability and work in progressAssists service technicians in the service shop as neededEnsures an adequate resource inventory is available for technicians to include oil, grease, shop supplies, cleaning equipment and materialsRequirements:Formal technical school graduate certificate/degree (or equivalent work experience)Minimum of 3 years heavy duty truck or related industry experience to include processing repair orders, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of service jobs and customer serviceEffective written and verbal communication skillsFamiliarity with both DOS and Windows based computer programsDemonstrated working knowledge of warranty guidelines, claim procedures and company policiesAbility to supervise employees and delegate work in a manner that best utilizes shop resources and technician abilitiesThe ability to work under pressure while prioritizing and processing several tasks simultaneouslyAbility to work a 8 - 10 hour shift, with extended hours as needed, while standing, reaching, crawling, stooping, bending and lifting up to 75 lbs on a regular basis
