Position Purpose & Summary

The Senior Sales Representative position is the primary customer contact for high moisture feed products (primarily OneTrak®) shipped to large sized dairies from our Bovina & Dalhart facilities in Texas. Other responsibilities include: Sales growth, initiate/develop relationships with prospective customers, deepen relationships with current customers, support for customer issues including limited technical support, manage customer usage, and discover/create opportunities through current or new products and services that result in sustainable and profitable growth for both Cargill and our customers.

Principal Accountabilities

30% Achieve budgeted sales from Dalhart and Bovina facilities through customer relationships and technical knowledge about products and dairy industry. Retain and expand strong working relationships with large, highly complex, visible, strategic, or tactically important customers. Build multi-level and cross functional relationships with strategic new customers.

20% Develop and execute annual sales strategy/plans (e.g. implementation of Dairy Dashboard - data and profitability manage tool) for assigned accounts/geography based on strategic importance, understanding of market and pricing, first hand customer information, and alignment with Business Unit/branded feed strategy.

20% Ensure that sales revenues, volume, growth and contribution margin are achieved or exceeded through understanding of the customers' needs and ways to enhance product/service availability and conducting well prepared discussions.

15% Prepare sales presentations and proposals, subject to review by supervisor. Presentations/proposals should demonstrate a strong understanding of both nutritional (e.g. revenue and cost impacts) and non-nutritional (e.g. shrink, time, batching accuracy impacts) of our Feed products. Development/support of less experienced sales people and perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

15% Provide support for customer service issues and coordinate use of company resources to provide value-added services based on the understanding/knowledge of the customer’s needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5 years combined experience in sales and/or related experience in ruminant or feed industries

  • Demonstrated effective communication, persuasion and organizational skills

  • Ability to present cost/benefits to prospects/customers as well as determine best value for Cargill

  • Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of financial concepts to analyze customers’ financial ability to buy

  • Ability to adapt, learn and provide leadership in a complex changing work environment

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and organize/prioritize to meet business objectives

  • Proven ability to develop relationships and work in a cross-functional, matrix organization where building alignment and trust is critical to success

  • Self- starter with strong independent decision making and analytical skills. Attention to detail

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and make decisions

  • Ability to manage conflict – internal & external

  • Ability to travel up to 80%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural field

  • Previous sales experience and demonstration of sales success

  • Extensive experience with/knowledge of dairy or other ruminant industries

  • Moderate understanding of ruminant nutrition

  • Moderate marketing experience

  • Strong commitment to customer excellence

Note : This is a remote position based out of a home office that needs to be in the Texas Panhandle or surrounding area.
